You decide what stays. Common are a photo (portrait of the person or animal), the name, the dates and a personal saying. Plus a quiet symbol to match: paw prints and the rainbow bridge for animals, a candle, a rose, a tree of life or a sprig for people. On dark natural slate the engraving turns light and silvery – the contrast comes from the stone itself, with no colour at all.
