Attested: Yggdrasil, the world ash, stands at the centre of Old Norse cosmology (Völuspá, Grímnismál). The famous Valþjófsstaður door (Iceland, c. 1200) is a real carved wooden door with a lion-fight scene – the model for our large door sign. Wood carving was a high art of the Viking Age (Oseberg, stave-church portals).
Myth-check: The „house tree" in the front garden as a heathen ritual is modern folklore, not Viking-Age practice. Our motifs – Yggdrasil, gods, runes – belong to the attested core; modern symbols we flag openly for what they are.
We work with real wood – solid tree discs with a natural edge, warm teak and pale pine wood for the tealight holders. The tree discs are hand-sanded and oiled, the motif is laser-engraved razor-sharp. Every piece has its own character through grain and growth. Everything is made in our small family workshop in Alsdorf near Aachen.

Dust it dry, and occasionally treat it with a little wood oil. For permanent outdoor use we recommend a sheltered spot.
